Marilina Bertoldi – A Whole Rock Show in a Small Package on More Music In The Morning

Marilina Bertoldi only needed a few inputs on our mixing console to hit like a wake-up call, performing three songs live on More Music In The Morning with Nic Harcourt + Jet in a tightly packed duo setup. The session offered a quick window into her world—small-town beginnings, a big city leap, and the kind of rock that’s built to travel (and actually mean something).

RAW, Uncut Morning Show Energy

MARILINA BERTOLDI UPWARD WITH GUITAR

Every SoCal Sound Session has its own energy, but there’s always something about seeing the red ON-AIR light come on… finding the right buttons to press… and knowing whatever happens next is instantly being sent out as electrical signals to a big red tower atop Oat Mountain in LA or all the way down south in Mission Viejo on the tower overlooking the pacific ocean.

Tap in and listen live

No filters, no redos—live radio, in real time, with all the nerves that come with it. And what Marilina Bertoldi and her drummer, Manuel Jose Fernandez, brought felt much bigger than just two people.

MARILINA BERTOLDI PROFILE PLAYING GUITAR

Origins

Taking a deeper look into Marilina’s beginnings, Nic Harcourt asked about her early years growing up in Sunchales, Santa Fe, Argentina—and how that small-town foundation shaped who she is.

That restlessness turned into a major leap at 18, when she left home for the city:

“Yes, 18 years old. I went alone to Buenos Aires. Eight hours away on a bus.”

Marilina also pointed out that it’s not common for women to pursue music as a career—especially in Argentina—highlighting the challenges many artists still face. It’s not an easy path, but that determination comes through loud and clear in the intensity of her music.

That same drive has led to major recognition. Her recent release PARA QUIEN TRABAJAS Vol. 1 is nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the Latin Grammys, and her previous album Mojigata also received a nomination.

Songs Performed

Marilina Bertoldi performed three songs in a duo setting:

She closed with “Fumar de Día,” and even there, the honesty stayed weirdly practical:

MARILINA BERTOLDI TIGHT SINGING

“It talks about weed because every time I smoked in the day, I had a bad trip. I only can smoke at night.”

The room laughed—but then she played the song like the punchline wasn’t the point. The point was that she’s not performing a persona. She’s letting you see the real wiring.
