Finn Wolfhard – “Choose The Latter”…another actor/musician from Stranger Things (he plays Mike Wheeler) …from Finn’s debut solo album Happy Birthday (out 6/6)…He’s also from the bands Calpurnia and The Aubreys. Btw, Stranger Things Season 5, the final season, comes out some time this Fall (Sept/Oct/Nov).
Sharon Van Etten – “Idiot Box”…another track off of the debut self-titled record with her new band Sharon Van Etten and The Attachment Theory…they play the Wiltern 5/21
Panchiko – "Ginkgo" …British band, they have a crazy story where they put out a record (burned 30 CDs of it) but didn’t get any buzz and disbanded, but then someone came across the CD and posted it online during the pandemic and it took off and then they got a cult following and reformed (read the story here) They have 1.4 monthly listeners on spotify alone. This song gives me Succession theme song vibes.
The Head And The Heart – “After The Setting Sun”…another track off their 6th studio album Aperture (coming out 5/9)…they play the Greek 9/28…Our Saturday DJ Hillary Gordon just chatted with Matty & Charity form the band – that Zoom should post soon.
Michael Franti & Spearhead – “Break Up With Everything”…from the new record Welcome To The Family (out 3/28)...fun fact, (I'm super intrigued by this) did you know his fans are called Soul Rockers and he hosts a soul rocker retreat in Bali with his wife...next one is Dec. 2025. :)
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT:
Dream, Ivory – “Lost Angeles”… a Southern California-based Filipino dream pop duo consisting of brothers Christian and Louie Baello…they are from Lake Elsinore.
Miya Folick – “Felicity”…LA artist…another track off of Erotica Veronica (which came out 2/28)..we’re also playing “Alaska” off this album…playing the Lodge Room 5/21
Addie Alaimo – I’m Leaving California But It’s Not A Big Deal…LA singer/songwriter…song from the new album A Is For Album…When I reached out to her, she said the SoCal Sound is the first FM preset in her car (we loooove this). She says her friend Riley Schmedemen from the band Swandive produced the record and was crucial to making it.
