The Dylan Hours features the music of and related works by and about American singer-songwriter, musician, author and poet Bob Dylan. The show is produced and hosted by Lisa Finnie, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and longtime Bob Dylan fan. Lisa plays greatest hits and classic album cuts along with rare and obscure tracks from Dylan’s six illustrious decades of recording.

The Dylan Hours is a theme-based show, and each week Lisa plays Bob Dylan’s sound recordings that can be linked via the artist’s lyrical and musical ideas, often touching on historical, cultural and philosophical topics. In addition to tying the songs together by theme, Lisa researches and incorporates background information into her broadcast, including musician credits and recording session dates and locations.

Lisa also conducts periodic interviews with writers and artists in Bob Dylan’s orbit. She has had the good fortune to interview notable guests such as author and Dylanologist Michael Gray; Princeton professor, historian, and author Sean Wilentz; musician Scarlet Rivera; filmmaker Todd Haynes; cultural critic and author Greil Marcus; photographer Daniel Kramer; music journalist Rona Elliot; musician and author Sid Griffin; former LA Times pop music critic and editor Robert Hilburn; musician and journalist Michael Simmons; UC Berkeley professor and author Timothy Hampton; photographer Elliott Landy; author and editor Stephanie Trudeau; and Steven Jenkins, Director of the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Thanks to Bob Dylan’s huge back catalog and steady stream of new releases, Lisa has expanded, tenfold, her own appreciation for and knowledge of Dylan’s material since she began producing The Dylan Hours in 2006. She was honored to participate as a guest gallery lecturer for Experience Music Project’s 2008 traveling exhibition “Bob Dylan’s American Journey 1956-1966” at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. She has also performed at Bob Dylan-related events at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center, the Ruskin Group Theatre and La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles.

Lisa welcomes listener requests, show theme suggestions and other feedback for The Dylan Hours.
